Racing fans now know about the dates, the "base camp" of the event, and some of the areas where the competitors will travel while participating.

Back in early October, the WRC announced that it would hold its first event in the United States since 1988. The news followed a candidate event taking place in parts of Kentucky and Tennessee, which the WRC used to examine sporting operations, safety, and other important factors.

Fast-forward to Tuesday, and the WRC has announced that this rally will take place across more than 15 counties across Tennessee and Kentucky between Aug. 26-29.

The city of Knoxville will serve as the base camp for the event. The WRC Arena will be at World's Fair Park and the Knoxville Convention Center.

Meanwhile, Nashville will hold a celebratory start on Lower Broadway with live entertainment, driver appearances, and fan events. Other sections of Eastern Tennessee, as well as Eastern Kentucky, will hold community celebrations for racing fans.

The stages of this rally will take the competitors from the Appalachian Mountains to the Cumberland Plateau. They will race on high-speed gravel sections while dealing with major elevation changes and technical forest sections. They will navigate through areas where water washed out part of the gravel course.

According to one description from DirtFish, this course offers a wide variety of challenges seen in countries such as Wales, Paraguay, and Chile.

"The United States has long been a priority for the WRC," said Eric Boullier, CEO of WRC Promoter. "Knoxville and the roads of Tennessee and Kentucky give us a spectacular, challenging setting, and a passionate home for our teams, manufacturers and fans as we begin this new chapter in America."

The WRC rally in the United States is one of the new additions that helps set the 2027 schedule apart. The other major new addition is Rally Scotland on Sept. 30-Oct. 3. This event brings WRC back to the United Kingdom for the first time since 2019.
