Coach Beard, played by Brendan Hunt, has gone through a midlife crisis after being called old in the seventh episode of Season 4. He has pierced his ears, turned his eyes blue with contact lenses, and seemingly gotten hair plugs.
Speaking with NASCAR media members at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, Hunt explained that he is partially to blame for this transformation. After all, he is a writer on the show and thought it would be fun.
Though he may not have expected to create as much of a challenge for himself as he did.
"Once I'm in the makeup chair for an extra hour every morning 'getting the curtains put on,' as (our) makeup person calls it, then I'm like, 'Is this really worth it,'" Hunt, the grand marshal for the NASCAR Cup Series race, said.
"Not quite sure, but yeah, basically just have to sit there while I am administered to by (artists), you know, applying fake tan on me."
This makeup process changed over the season as Coach Beard underwent more of a transformation during the later episodes. Hunt discovered that putting the blue contacts in each week became more and more of a headache.
It even reached the point where the makeup artists banished Hunt to a different room as he prepared to film the end of the season.
"The contacts were a problem," Hunt said. "The contacts, never had contacts before. That was a real journey everyday. It got to the point where they didn't even let me put the contacts on in the makeup truck anymore because I would curse too much, and they just would take me to my dressing room, and they would close the door.
"...Whoever's outside of it could hear me going, 'God (expletive), God (expletive) it, God (expletive) it!' For like 20 minutes. Grown (expletive) man just couldn't handle it. So it was a blessing and a curse... and curses."
Take it away, Coach!

Will Hunt have to continue putting contacts and having a spray tan applied? Ted Lasso will provide one semblance of an answer on Wednesday when the final episode of Season 4 hits Apple TV.
This episode will wrap up the several storylines from the show's revival season, which focused on the AFC Richmond female soccer team. Coach Beard's dramatic transformation is one of these key storyline.
After that is more of a question mark. Hunt did not have the ability to share if Ted Lasso will return for a Season 5, or if this will be a one-and-done revival.
"I feel optimistic, but I've not heard anything official in any way, shape, or form," Hunt said. "But you know, I think we would have had to do really, really badly for it not to keep going. I don't think we did that badly, so we'll see."
