Baseball GM: 'There's no risk' in signing Tim Tebow

That's a bold strategy. Let's see if it works out for them.

Former Florida and NFL quarterback Tim Tebow worked out for MLB scouts last week and there were some mixed reviews. Some teams were impressed with his raw power at the plate while others were not too high on his fielding and throwing ability.

Tebow reportedly has two potential suitors in the Atlanta Braves and Colorado Rockies. Braves general manager John Coppolella has spoken out on the topic of Tebow and he sees no risk, financial or otherwise, in the team signing former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow to a minor league contract.

"There's no risk. If it doesn't work, we'll be honest with Tim early, and we can move on. If it does work, it's great for the Braves and it's great for baseball."

Coppolella also said that the belief in the scouting system is another reason they want to bring him in. He said it wouldn't hurt the Braves organization and that you have to have the "no stone unturned" mentality with cases like this. Tebow would likely sign for less than $100,000 if he and the Braves came to an agreement, but it would certainly be a start.
