One of next year’s top teams is already on track for national championship contention with the latest news

That's big for the Sooners.

Oklahoma had National Championship aspirations this year, but those were dashed with losses to Houston and Ohio State early in the season. However, the Sooners will be back next season after winning the de facto Big 12 title with their win over Oklahoma State on Saturday.

What's better is that the Sooners will have their star quarterback returning in Baker Mayfield.

Baker Mayfield has over 3,300 passing yards this season and over 9,300 over his career including his time at Texas Tech. He's a Heisman candidate this year and you can imagine he'll be one again next year barring any catastrophic meltdown. He's also thrown for 38 touchdowns and only eight interceptions on the year.
