Bronny and LeBron's Opening Night Jerseys Go For $102K
The duo's game worn jerseys from their 110-103 victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves on opening night recently sold for $102,000.
The No. 23 and No. 9 jerseys were sold on Wednesday through Sotheby's. However, the company revealed they were unable to authenticate whether Bronny's jersey was from the Oct. 22 matchup, including the following disclaimer on their website:
"Sotheby's attributes this Bronny jersey to the second half of the 2024-2025 Kia NBA Tip-Off game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, however, due to a lack of media of Bronny without a warm-up jacket on, it is not possible to photomatch. 2024-2025 Kia NBA Tip-Off was Bronny's 'Rookie Debut' game. 'First Game 2D Half 10/22' is handwritten on the jock tag."
The hype surrounding Bronny James is not exclusive to those willing to pay six figures for a jersey. According to Marca.com, the rookie's No. 9 has already sold 500,000 units thus far, eclipsing his father LeBron James' previous record for rookie jerseys sold.
Lakers Slump Continues
Los Angeles hasn't had much to get excited about since then as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, most recently suffering a 134-93 defeat on Wednesday against Miami.
Head coach JJ Redick was quick to take some blame for his team and their production recently, saying he was "embarrassed."
"It's not a game that I thought we had the right fight, the right professionalism," Redick said frankly. "There has to be some ownership on the court."
Star forward LeBron James voiced his defense for his head coach and said, "It's not on the coaches. It's definitely on us, for sure."
"There's no schemes or Xs and Os that are gonna get you through that. If you don't want to come to compete, then that's other issues. We gotta figure it out."
