If you were keeping track at home, the O.J. Simpson parole hearing went on a bit longer than most expected, but Simpson did get a ruling that he was granted parole in a little under two hours after the hearing started.

Some used the relative quickness of the ruling to poke fun at other things. Most notably, former ESPN reporter Brett McMurphy used it to take a shot at the NCAA, saying that if they were in charge, "we'd be waiting another 3 years for a ruling".
McMuprhy is referring to the ongoing NCAA investigations into the football programs at North Carolina and Ole Miss, which have both now taken years before the NCAA has been able to make an official ruling. There is still no timetable for rulings to be made on the investigations into either school, but of course, things escalated on Thursday night when Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze suddenly resigned.
As far as O.J. goes, he will be eligible for his release from prison on Oct. 1 at the earlier. Simpson has spent the last nine years in jail after his conviction for armed robbery and kidnapping from a 2007 incident.
