Texas A&M women's basketball (11-4, 0-2 SEC) dropped their second SEC game in a row to the LSU the Lady Tigers (10-4, 1-1 SEC) with a final score of 63-52. Once again the Aggies struggled shooting the ball, and it's beginning to sound like a broken record. Slow starts are officially part of their identity when playing against good teams. It was a hard fought game, but you don't win anything for moral victories. This loss also knocked them out of the AP Top 25.

Chennedy Carter had her second double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Ciera Johnson also contributed 13 points and eight rebounds, but there was very little production from N'Dea Jones who finished the game with only 4 points and 3 rebounds.
Although Carter played hard, it was the same story as the South Carolina game in Reed Arena just a few nights before. LSU guard Khayla Pointer matched Chennedy Carter with 22 points of her own, and Carter fouled out late in the game, which all but sealed the Aggies fate.

LSU didn't play their prettiest game either, but they rallied in the fourth quarter and locked down on defense finishing the game with a 23-11 scoring advantage. Some will attribute part of this victory to the fact that LSU had the home crowd advantage, but it appears that the same thing is happening to the Aggies.
Scoring guards are killing them, and I'm not sure how many of these games need to play out the same way. Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair needs to do something different if he wants the Aggies to have any success in the SEC. This team needs to slow down the pace and work the ball inside, where the Aggies usually have the advantage scoring in the paint and rebounding.
The Aggies have to go on the road again for their next game against the Vanderbilt Commodores (5-10, 0-2 SEC). Hopefully their legs are rested for a stretch that includes Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and No. 16 Kentucky. If the Aggies fall to 0-3, it is almost safe to say this season may be dead in in the water. They have all the talent on this team to reach the heights of the NCAA Tournament like last season, but they are not being put in the best position to win early on in conference play.
