Eric Stonestreet (K-State)

'Modern Family' Star Pursues Dream to Play Football at Kansas State

Eric Stonestreet might be fresh out of eligibility since graduating from Kansas State in 1996, but that's not stopping the Modern Family actor from pursuing his childhood dream of playing for the Wildcats. At least, that's the plan if ABC's popular sitcom truly ends after its 10th season.

Widely known for his role as Cameron Tucker or "Cam" on Modern Family, the 46-year-old star actor traveled from his home in Los Angeles back to Manhattan, Kansas for an "official" recruiting trip in The Little Apple.

"The Recruit: An Eric Stonestreet Story" has been a social media treat ahead of K-State's season opener against South Dakota on September 1 at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

After arriving at the Vanier Family Football Complex, Stonestreet met with Wildcats' Director of Recruiting, Taylor Braet, for a tour of the state-of-the-art football facility.

Then, of course, Braet sat Stonestreet down for an interview to discuss Stonestreet's ACT score in high school, preferred jersey number, and his height and weight.

Stonestreet, a Kansas City, Kansas native, even put the pads on for an epic photoshoot in the latest episode.

Bill Snyder, who, at 78 years old, is the oldest active coach in the Football Bowl Subdivision, has been known to develop and bring the most out of players who are not highly recruited, but this would be one for the ages if he can mold Stonestreet to be a solid run-stopper.

As someone who has spent many years around the program, this was definitely a solid touch ahead of the 2018 season. Stonestreet loves K-State, and the university definitely echoes those sentiments.

K-State has had Heisman Trophy finalists in Michael Bishop and Collin Klein, and NFL standouts such as Tyler Lockett, Jordy Nelson, Terence Newman, and Darren Sproles all come through the program.

Eric Stonestreet is looking to be the next K-State Football great on that star-studded list, and you won't want to miss the next episode.
