Ohio State Interim Coach Making All the Right Moves Amid Meyer Investigation

The Urban Meyer probe is costing Ohio State a good chunk of change and something new seems to pop up almost every time you turn around. That hasn't stopped Ryan Day from doing his job and making a great impression with the college football world in the process.

Day, the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Buckeyes, took over the team's day-to-day operations on Aug. 1 when Meyer was placed on paid administrative leave. Since then, there's been more noise from outside the stadium than from the locker room, but the interim coach has made his presence felt the last few days.

First, Ohio State welcomed legendary Buckeyes running back Archie Griffin, the only two-time Heisman Trophy winner in NCAA history, to practice.

Then, after practicing in the rain on Thursday, Day surprised the Buckeyes with tickets to the Jay-Z and Beyonce concert at Ohio Stadium in Columbus.

You better believe the players turned up, too.

Once the week started winding down, with Ohio State's camp ending Saturday with a scrimmage, Day provided a full update about the team in a classy letter.

It includes an extensive breakdown of the quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, offensive line, defensive line, linebackers, cornerbacks, safeties, and specialists since media availability has been seemingly non-existent.

To end the letter, Day wrote: "The two main driving forces behind our motivation is the "brotherhood" and the standard of excellence that the former Buckeyes players and teams have set before us. The "brotherhood" is the love for our teammates, which is an unbreakable bond and the standard of excellence is a responsibility we take very seriously. We are honored to be Buckeyes and can't wait to see and hear you in the 'Shoe on September 1.

"In closing, I would like to thank members of the Ohio State University Administration and Athletics Department for their guidance and support. I would also like to thank the members of the Ohio State media corps for their patience and understanding."

This has not been an easy time for anyone associated with Ohio State the past few weeks, but it's nice to see the team is bonding, and Day has made the most of the opportunity while everyone awaits the decision of Meyer's future with the program.
