Chris Fowler has been one of the faces of ESPN’s college football coverage for the better part of three decades, having been the primary studio host on College GameDay for nearly 25 years.

His success as a media personality rubbed off into his personal life, too, it seems. Fowler is happily married to former fitness model, Jennifer Dempster.

Early Life

Fowler grew up in Rockford, Illinois, as well as State College, Pennsylvania, where his father, Knox Fowler, was employed as a theater professor at Penn State University.

During his adolescence, the Fowler clan moved to Colorado where Fowler attended General William J. Palmer High School, and he later attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where he’d earn a Bachelor of Science degree.

While in school he was a sports director for the university’s radio station on KAIR-AM and covered high school sports for the Rocky Mountain News.

Additionally, he was a co-host of a weekly magazine program in Boulder for two years.

Before Fowler was on ESPN’s radar, he was hard at work in Denver, working as a production assistant, writer/producer and sports reporter for the NBC affiliate KCNC-TV. He also worked at KMGH-TV as an intern.

Fowler joined ESPN in 1986, and his first role with the network was as host and reporter of Scholastic Sports America. He held that position for two years before becoming a college football sideline reporter.

In 1990, Fowler became the host of the College GameDay football road show, a role he maintained up until 2014. He was replaced by Rece Davis for the 2015 season, but maintained his play-by-play announcer role for Saturday Night Football on ABC, as well as covering College Football Playoff games and College Football National Championship, as well as the annual Heisman Trophy Presentation

The sports broadcaster also did college basketball coverage for ESPN, where he was the lead studio host of College Basketball on ESPN. He worked on coverage for ESPN’s Summer X Games and Winter X Games for five years and additionally covered major tennis tournaments, including Wimbledon, the French Open, the US Open and the Australian Open.

Fowler also anchored the coverage for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and hosts the ESPN Classic show SportsCentury.

Chris Fowler’s Wife Jennifer Dempster

Chris Fowler has been happily married to Jennifer Dempster, a former fitness model and instructor of Caucasian ethnicity, for over 20 years.

The couple married in 2000 at Oheka Castle in West Hills, New York.

The couple appeared publicly on ESPN’s show BodyShaping in the 1990s. They are not reported to have any children together. The American sports broadcaster often posts pictures of him together with Dempster to his social media pages. Going over two-decades strong, it’s safe to assume Fowler’s marital status is rock solid.
