The Arizona State coaching staff circus took another weird turn on Friday.

According to Sports Illustrated's Bruce Feldman, new head coach Herm Edwards reportedly targeted former New York Jets and Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini as his defensive coordinator, which Mangini turned down.
Mangini, of course, was Edwards' replacement in New York from 2006-08 before eventually taking over the Browns from 2009-10.
The former coach last worked as a defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers in 2015 and had previously held the position of tight ends coach with the franchise from 2013-14.
Edwards has already lost his two coordinators in DC Phil Bennett and OC Billy Napier, as well as offensive line coach Rob Sale since taking over at Arizona State earlier this month.
The coaching experiment has been odd so far. During his introductory press conference, Edwards seemed to be confused by a reporter's affiliation with DevilsDigest.com which, of course, was named after the team he had just accepted the coaching position with.
"I'm Catholic now; I'm a Christian," Edwards said. "Watch out for them Devils. Just saying! We're good, brother. We're good! I ain't taking it personal."
Strange things are indeed going on in Tempe.
