Nick Saban reportedly losing one of his longest-tenured assistants to another team

That's a huge loss for Saban.

Nick Saban and Alabama have been dealing with a ton of coaching changes this offseason and it appears that another one is happening. The head coach is reportedly losing his longest-tenured assistant in Bobby Williams to Oregon as OregonLive.com is reporting.

Saban has already lost his offensive coordinator in Brian Daboll to the NFL, defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley took a job with the Raiders and defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt left to take the head coaching job at Tennessee. Those would have been bad enough, but Saban is losing a guy he's been coaching with since is days at Michigan State.

Williams joined Saban's staff in Lansing in 1990 (five years before Saban got there) and has followed him pretty much everywhere after that. He stayed in Lansing to become the head coach before getting fired in 2002 and then joined LSU as a receivers coach for a year while Saban was there. He then ended up with the Dolphins while Saban was coaching them as well.

He was then a coach at high school powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas in 2007 before joining Alabama's staff in 2008 and sticking with the Crimson Tide up until now. He was working with tight ends and special teams before 2016 when he became a special assistant for Saban.

His contract is reportedly for two years and worth $600,000 total. He becomes Mario Cristobal's ninth assistant and second former head coach, joining Jim Leavitt who was the first coach at USF.
