Steele has been rumored to be in the running for the position after the Volunteers moved on from Greg Schiano.
Tennessee is also reportedly slated to meet with Georgia defensive coordinator Mel Tucker.
As of this writing, the school has not met with Tee Martin.
Steele has spent the majority of his career working as a defensive assistant, but also had a previous head coaching stint with Baylor from 1999-2002, which resulted in a 9-36 (1-31 Big 12) overall record.
Before becoming LSU's defensive coordinator in 2015, Steele was an assistant with Alabama, Clemson, and Florida State. He joined Auburn at the end of the 2015 season, taking over for Will Muschamp.
