For the foreseeable future, Bo Nix is the starting quarterback for the Auburn Tigers. His spot is likely untouchable until he leaves, too. A backup and future plan is always needed, however, and former head coach Gus Malzahn made sure to land another signal caller with game-changing potential in his final football recruiting class.

Dematrius Davis, a four-star dual-threat quarterback from North Shore High School in Houston, is already on campus. The Class of 2021 prospect has what it takes to be special, and his announcement on social media sent shockwaves through The Plains.
Davis is a winner with two high school football state titles under his belt. College coaches will need a detailed scouting report to slow him down.

Ranked as the No. 8 dual-threat quarterback in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite, Dematrius Davis committed to Auburn over other finalists Virginia Tech, LSU, and Texas A&M. He once committed to the Hokies, but found his perfect fit with the Tigers, former offensive coordinator Chad Morris, and playing in the SEC.
Davis upheld his pledge even after the coaching change.
Davis also fielded offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Florida State, Houston, Kentucky, Memphis, Miami, Nebraska, Ole Miss, SMU, and TCU, among others.
The Auburn football signee moved to Alabama in January 2021. Davis is the sixth early enrollee of the 2021 signing class. Joining Davis in the fall are four-star defensive end Dylan Brooks and three-star running back Jarquez Hunter.
He went 2 for 3 for 48 yards in the "A-Day" Game.
Davis and the quarterback room welcome a new teammate in former LSU signal caller TJ Finley, who announced he was transferring to Auburn in May 2021.

At 6-foot and 190 pounds, Dematrius Davis is far from the biggest quarterback in the class, but he's easily one of the best athletes. The North Shore Mustangs star also has a big-time arm and an impressive resume with two Texas State championships.
Davis even went viral for his Hail Mary throw a couple of years ago.
Davis will be a dynamic playmaker for Harsin's offense. He'll be ready to score touchdowns and dominate at the NCAA college football level when his time comes.
