Kirk Herbstreit says he'd be "shocked" if one man isn't the next Florida head coach

After inheriting a winless team, Frost led the Knights to a bowl game during his first season.

The Chip Kelly-to-Florida movement has all but stalled out. Dan Mullen is reportedly staying put at Mississippi State. That leaves one of the hottest coaches in the country, Scott Frost, as the now-favorite for the vacant Florida Gators job.

That is at least according to Kirk Herbstreit:

Frost, a former quarterback, started his college career at Stanford before he transferred to Nebraska in 1995. As a two-year starter for the Huskers, Scott went on to throw for 2,677 yards and 18 touchdowns. He was an integral part of Nebraska undefeated 1997 team that went on to share the national championship with the Michigan Wolverines. If there's ever a chance for him to get back with the Huskers, according to Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports, the current UCF coach would take it.

After inheriting a winless team, Frost led the Knights to a bowl game during his first season.

While UCF continues its current run, it likely means the coach will have his pick of numerous coaching vacancies at bigger programs. Frost has already been linked to the Florida and Tennessee jobs, although returning to his alma mater could be more enticing.

Nebraska is currently fourth in the Big Ten West division with a 4-8 (3-6 conference) record, which includes a four-game losing streak, as well as losing six of its last seven games.
