During his trip to Waco, Texas to speak at a banquet in October 2019, the former Heisman Trophy winner made a pit stop to the Alfred D. Hughes Unit maximum security prison in Gatesville, Texas. Tebow was contacted by one of the inmate's fathers, according to KWTX, and he surprised everyone when he showed up. Not only that, he spent five hours there.
"So grateful to spend time with my new brothers in Christ at Alfred Hughes Unit and encouraging them in the hope that Jesus brings!" Tebow posted on Twitter after the visit.

The surprising thing wasn't the fact Tebow, who works for ESPN and the SEC Network, made the extra trip to share his faith with inmates. It's the fact that he was challenged to a push-up contest during the Texas prison visit... and lost.
Tebow has been trying to make it in the MLB with the New York Mets after his NFL career, so he definitely is in shape and works out. But not even the mighty dual-threat quarterback had the strength in this competition.
He lost 84-71, and the push-up battle video was shared on his Instagram and on TMZ.
The ex-NFL quarterback still had a lot of fun on the visit.
"We had fun, but I got smoked! So encouraged by what God is doing at Alfred Hughes prison and grateful for the time spent with my new brothers in Christ today! Excited to see how they will use their lives for the Kingdom as the grow closer to God and encourage others to live in faith!
"Thank you to the Warden and the entire staff- thank you for opening your doors and letting us love on your boys today!"

What a cool moment for everyone involved. Tebow now has to get back in the gym and get revenge at some point, too.
