Roland Bailey Jr. — better known as "Champ" — was born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky to parents Roland Bailey Sr. and Elaine Bailey.
Champ grew up in Folkston, Georgia and attended Charlton County High School before joining the University of Georgia's football team from 1996-98.
He has a brother, Boss Bailey, who had a five-year career in the NFL with the Detroit Lions.
Champ Bailey's Football Career
While a member of the Georgia Bulldogs, Bailey earned Consensus All-American honors in 1998. Over his three-year college football career, Bailey played both offense and defense and earned the Bronko Nagurski Trophy in 1998.
After college, Bailey was selected as a first-round pick (seventh overall) by the Washington Redskins in the 1999 NFL Draft. Bailey played five seasons in Washington and emerged as one of the league's best defensive backs.
Bailey made four Pro Bowls in five years in the nation's capital before being traded to the Denver Broncos in exchange for star running back Clinton Portis.
As a member of the Broncos, Bailey's legacy was truly cemented. He made three consecutive All-Pro First-Teams from 2004-06. He recorded 21 interceptions during that span, including 10 in 2006.
Bailey would play the rest of his National Football League career in Denver (he had a brief stint with the New Orleans Saints but didn't play in a regular season game) and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019.
Throughout his career, he recorded 52 interceptions and scored four touchdowns. Bailey never did get to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. The Broncos lost Super Bowl XLVIII against the Seattle Seahawks in 2013, his final year in the league.

Prior to tying the knot with Herrera, Bailey was married to ex-wife Hanady Aboneeaj from 2002-06, with whom he had two children, including son Keevan Bailey, who plays football at Colorado State.
Champ Bailey has a total of seven children. Bailey had his first daughter, Bria, when he was just 14 years old. He had his second daughter, Whitney, at the age of 18.
