Masters runner-up Scottie Scheffler has voiced some complaints about the course at Augusta National Golf Club, indicating that it could have affected his performance.

"I would've liked it to have been a little bit more equal in terms of the firmness on Thursday and Friday," Scheffler said after his runner-up finish. "I was a bit surprised at how soft things were on Friday afternoon, especially as it got late in the day. But the weather also changes, like it was a bit windy on Thursday.

"So who knows, it's just that's part of the game. We play an outdoor sport, and you don't know how conditions are gonna change — especially course conditions.

"Overall, like I said, just Friday for me, going out early, not being able to shoot an under-par round, that definitely hurt my chances. I think I started the weekend maybe 12 back, so to get within one was a pretty good run."

Scheffler, who started the weekend 12 shots out of the top spot, mounted a furious comeback during the third and fourth rounds.

He finished six under on Saturday and four under on Sunday to draw within striking distance of eventual winner Rory McIlroy. However, he ultimately ended up in the runner-up position by one stroke. He fell just shy of his third Masters win.

He mentioned the course when discussing his failure to win another green jacket, but he also spoke about areas where he could have improved. Specifically, he said that he had made mistakes on the back nine holes, which dropped him into a significant deficit.

The list of mistakes included sending the ball into the water on both the Par-5 13th hole and the Par-5 15th hole.

Of course, Scheffler delivered a historic performance en route to this runner-up finish. He became the first player since 1942 to complete the final 36 holes without a bogey. He then added three more bogey-free holes to take the mark to 39 overall.
