The annual "Field of Dreams" game took place on Thursday night, and it featured a special ceremony celebrating Major League Baseball history.

Twenty-six members of the Hall of Fame walked through the corn and onto the field where the 1989 Field of Dreams film was set. They took part in a pregame ceremony setting up the battle between the Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies.

Mike Schmidt, Jim Kaat, and Steve Carlton all emerged from the corn in Phillies uniforms. Joe Mauer and Bert Blyleven donned Twins uniforms while representing the other team playing in the beloved game.
The other Hall of Famers to emerge from the corn included Andruw Jones, Harold Baines, Fred McGriff, Adrian Beltre, Andre Dawson, Larry Walker, Cal Ripken Jr., Ivan Rodriguez, Jim Thome, Scott Rolen, Tony Perez, Tony La Russa, Jeff Kent, Fergie Jenkins, Joe Torre, CC Sabathia, Billy Wagner, Rollie Fingers, Lee Smith, and Trevor Hoffman.
These legends of the sport were not the only ones who emerged from the corn before the "Field of Dreams" game. The crowd of approximately 8,000 fans also watched as the active players from the Twins and Phillies walked out onto the field.
Both of these teams broke out the throwback uniforms for the game. The Twins had on home jerseys from their inaugural season in 1961. The Phillies had on road uniforms dating back to the 1940s. They battled for the win while a person manually updated the hand-operated scoreboard.
The Phillies delivered a decisive 7-1 win over the Twins as Kyle Schwarber hit two home runs. Brandon Marsh hit a home run as well.
But while the Twins lost the game, the players and coaches celebrated the unique moment. They cherished the opportunity to talk to the 26 Hall of Famers in attendance, and they embraced the unique setting of the "Field of Dreams" game.
"Cal Ripken is my favorite player," manager Derek Shelton said, per the Minnesota Star Tribune. "That's why I wear No. 8. He's standing there. I think how gracious they all were for both teams. You turn around and every single guy is standing up and shaking their hand. And you're talking about the best players in the history of this game."
