The Golden State Warriors pushed past the Cleveland Cavaliers to win the 2017 NBA Championship, but a White House visit to President Donald Trump may not be in the cards. After original reports circulated that the Warriors would not take a visit, the team's 2015 NBA Finals MVP, Andre Iguodala made a pretty radical claim on why the Warriors make just take their White House visit, per USA Today (H/T CBS):
"Hell nah," Iguodala said.
"We're going to do what our leader [Stephen Curry] does," he said. "I think we handle [the White House situation] when it gets there. I mean, it may be different. There might be somebody different in [office]. That's a realistic thing to say though, right? So you don't know what's going to happen."
Could Trump be out of office in November, around the same time the Cavaliers took their visit with Barack Obama last year? Apparently Iguodala thinks that's a realistic option. And if it's not in the cards, it certainly doesn't sound like he's interested in a visit.
"Maybe [Trump] doesn't [invite us] and we don't go, or we don't say anything and make a big deal of it, and he doesn't make a big deal of it and we go our separate ways. Y'all might write about it. I might call him and say, 'If they ask, just say our schedules conflicted.' And then if y'all write something, we'll say, 'Fake News.'"
A statement was released after original reports circulated that said the team will make "those decisions when and if necessary."
Josh Brown, the reporter who originally tweeted the Warriors wouldn't visit, is a reporter for CNBC who has never covered the Warriors or broken NBA news. He also later deleted the tweet.
However, several Warriors aside from Iguodala have mentioned this season that they would not want to visit President Donald Trump's White House.

Shaun Livingston said months ago that he would not visit the White House if they won the Finals. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has even gone so far as to call policies un-American and David West has said Trump's approach is the opposite of what should be taught to youth.
There are no other credible reports claiming the Warriors have already made this decision, but it's not far-fetched to think that a consensus could have been reached considering everything that the players have already said this season. Tom Brady and several other New England Patriots players also skipped a White House visit this year. The Clemson Tigers recently completed their White House visit.
