As it turns out, Barkley had an invitation to the wedding between the pop star and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end. He just says he politely declined due to a longstanding personal policy.

The longtime player-turned-analyst provided the details during a Tuesday appearance on Unfiltered with Ricky Bo & Bill Colarulo. He covered topics such as whether LeBron James has interest in the 76ers and the Jaylen Brown trade, but he also explained his absence from Madison Square Garden.

"I don't go to weddings, that's one," Barkley explained. "I don't go to weddings or funerals. But I did get an invite, and I politely declined, because I thought it was going to be a crap show.

"And, like, I love Travis and Jason (Kelce), and I've only met Taylor one time, but yeah, I did get an invite. But I said, 'Hey, you know what? That's just too much. I just want to hang out and play golf, and I don't want to dress up and all that other stuff.' But I appreciate the invitation, that was pretty special."

The list of confirmed attendees included such names as Jennifer Lopez, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Stevie Nicks, Paul McCartney, Tim McGraw, MGK, Dakota Johnson, Karlie Kloss, Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello, Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, and Jack Antonoff.

Adam Sandler served as the officiant of the wedding. His duties reportedly also included performing music during the ceremony.

While Barkley did receive an invite to the wedding, a former NFL player did not.

Will Compton, a former linebacker-turned-podcaster, joked during an appearance on Wake Up Barstool that he was "flabbergasted" after seeing some of the people who reportedly received invites. He specifically mentioned former NFL Vice President of Officiating Dean Blandino.

"As I've been seeing these photos of everybody else at that wedding, I am pretty flabbergasted that we didn't get the invite," Compton said during an interview with Dave Portnoy.
