Jerry Jones might have just declared war on the NFL and its Ezekiel Elliott case

This was aggressive.

Jerry Jones has now made it clear that he thinks the NFL's domestic violence case against star running back is flimsy at best and had some more inflammatory comments on Sunday. At the Dallas Cowboys' news conference to open training camp, Jones said that there was no domestic violence committed.

Jones looked into the NFL's report into the allegations against Elliott and is convinced that his second year running back is not in the wrong at all.

"I found nothing since we were standing here at this time last year," Jones said. "I knew everything in that report. I knew that this time last year."

It's been reported previously that other team owners were pushing for a punishment from the league, but that case has become difficult to support considering everything else that has happened. The Columbus attorney's office in Ohio has already dropped the case because of inconsistent information so it's hard to see the NFL throwing a punishment Elliott's way if he isn't even going to trial or settling out of court.

When Jones was asked if the league would be setting a bad precedent by suspending Elliott sans hard evidence and basically taking the accuser's word over his word, Jones doubled down on his stance.

"My opinion is there is not even an issue of 'he said, she said,'" Jones said. "There is not even an issue there."

Those definitely sound like fighting words and he is directly challenging the league on this "issue." The NFL is reportedly close to making a decision, but we still don't know when a potential punishment or clearing of Elliott's name will come down from commissioner Roger Goodell's office.
