Nate Burleson is married to Atoya Burleson, the CEO and host of the Inside Lines Podcast. She was a track star at the University of Nevada, which is where she met her husband.
Together, the pair have three children: Nathaniel Burleson II, Nehemiah Burleson and Mia Pearl Burleson.
The couple has been together since 1999, and she has been there for him every step of the way. She posts pictures of the two of them on social media quite frequently.
Her podcast is about the sacrifices wives and girlfriends of NFL players make to help support their husbands' careers. Because Nate had an 11-year playing career, she is certainly an expert on the subject.
Nate Burleson's NFL Career
Nathanial Eugene Burleson has been involved in the game of football since birth. His father, Alvin Burleson, played in the Canadian Football League, so the future wideout got acclimated to the sport early. He was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, while his dad was in the CFL.
After stints at Lindbergh High School and O'Dea High School, Burleson received a college football scholarship offer from the University of Nevada Wolf Pack. Nevada would end up working as an NCAA launching pad for the Burleson family.
Nate's brother, Lyndale Burleson, played basketball there as well. Nate's other brother, Kevin Burleson, played point guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA) after graduating from the University of Minnesota.
Burleson was taken by the Minnesota Vikings in the third round (71st overall pick) of the 2003 NFL Draft. He got to play for his hometown Seattle Seahawks and generated the most receiving yards as a member of the Detroit Lions.
After a brief stint with the Cleveland Browns in 2014, he retired after the season and finished his career with 43 total touchdowns.
Nate Burleson's Broadcasting Career
After retirement, Nate Burleson went straight from American football teams to broadcast teams. In addition to his NFL Network and CBS Sports duties, he also worked as a color commentator for the Detroit Lions Television Network for a few seasons.
Burleson has made himself a busy man over the last two decades, but he still has the support of his wife and a nice net worth.
The public eye can strain relationships, but theirs has stood the test of time.
