Prescott achieved this on Sunday as the rival Philadelphia Eagles visited AT&T Stadium. He only needed 160 passing yards to leapfrog Tony Romo, and he easily reached this mark.
The record-setting pass took place in the third quarter as he found receiver George Pickens for a 9-yard gain. Prescott reached 34,192 yards, putting him ahead of Romo at 34,183 yards. The other two most prolific passers in team history are Troy Aikman at 32,942 yards and Roger Staubach at 22,700 yards.

Prescott, a fourth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, delivered immediately for the Cowboys. He started 16 games in his rookie season and led the team to a 13-3 record while throwing for 3,667 yards and 23 touchdowns. He also earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl.
The former Mississippi State standout has gone on to start all 133 games for which he has been healthy while surpassing 3,000 yards six times and 4,000 yards twice. His most prolific season was in 2019 when he threw for 4,902 yards, one yard shy of Romo's single-season franchise record.
Prescott entered Sunday's game against the Eagles having thrown for 2,587 yards this season. He only added to this mark while breaking Romo's record.
The former AP Offensive Rookie of the Year will only continue to build his resume as the Cowboys try to turn the season around. They have six more games after this battle with the Eagles, which he will use to find Pickens, CeeDee Lamb, and Jake Ferguson for big plays.
Of course, records are not what drive Prescott. He has the goal of winning Dallas its first Super Bowl since the 1995 season. He has taken the team to the playoffs five times but has thus far fallen short of the goal.
The Cowboys reached the divisional round in 2016, 2018, and 2022. They failed to advance to the NFC Championship. The team failed to advance beyond the wild card round in 2021 and 2023.
