Usain Bolt Started a Family & Had a Kid Named "Thunder"

Wouldn't it be cool to call yourself the fastest man in the world and not sound completely insane?

There's one living legend of the track and field world that could lay claim to that title for almost a decade. He may still be the fastest man ever, even if he's undoubtedly lost a step now.

That man is Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt. If you think he has the perfect name, wait until you hear the names of his children.

Sometimes when we talk about an Olympic gold medalist from the past, we need to jog memories a bit. That's not the case with Bolt. Not just because the speedster from Jamaica was active somewhat recently. It's because, in the world of athletics, few have made the impact that Bolt has.

Earlier in 2008, Bolt had already set a world record in the 100-meter dash. However, since that didn't happen at the Olympic Games, many surely missed it.

Bolt made up for that and then some at the Beijing Olympics, though. He left every other Olympic sprinter in his dust while breaking his world record with a 9.69 in the 100 meters. For reference, silver medalist Richard Thompson ran a 9.89.

Bolt was not done. He also set a world record in the 200 meters in 2008. In 2012, Bolt was an Olympian once more, winning the 100, the 200 and taking home an Olympic gold medal in the 4x100-meter relay.

Many sprinters might have called it a career there, but Bolt did not. He returned in 2016 to Rio and once again won gold in all three of those events.

Bolt retired not just the fastest man on Earth but an eight-time Olympic gold medalist. Oh, and he won 11 golds in various World Championships as well. Yeah, it's fair to call Bolt a "world champion" sprinter.

Usain Bolt's Girlfriend Kasi Bennett

Bolt and his girlfriend Kasi Bennett have been together for many years. She seems like a supportive partner considering Bolt headed down to Australia to try and start a second career as a soccer player even though he was 32 and had spent his entire sporting career as a sprinter. It didn't go great.

We assume Bolt is a better father than a soccer player, though. He became a dad for the first time last year when he and Kasi had a baby girl. The couple gave their first child a fitting (and awesome) name: Olympia Lightning Bolt.

Worryingly, a few months after his daughter Olympia Lightning was born, Bolt tested positive for coronavirus. He claimed to be asymptomatic, though, and Olympia remained healthy.

Usain and his partner Kasi Bennett were busy during the pandemic. On Father's Day of 2021, the couple took to social media to make an announcement. The duo added another duo to their lives, as Bennett had given birth to twin boys.

Now, after naming their first child Olympia Lightning, the pressure was on. As he always does, Usain knocked it out of the park, introducing the world to Saint Leo Bolt and Thunder Bolt. Yes, the Jamaican sprinter named his son "Thunder Bolt." Happy Father's Day, indeed.

From China to England to Brazil to Kingston, no sprinter could hold a candle to Bolt. He may be retired now, but with three young kids, Usain has plenty to do. And none of it will involve playing Australian League soccer.
