WWE reportedly has plans to have The Miz defend the Intercontinental Championship against Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 34, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer (via subscription).
The company plans for the Intercontinental championship match to be one of the biggest matches at WrestleMania, according to Melter.
The Miz defeated Roman Reigns for the title via pinfall in mostly clean fashion — excluding an exposed turnbuckle — on the RAW 25-year anniversary episode Monday.
Most reports have indicated that Roman Reigns is expected to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania. That would explain Reigns dropping the title, which not only frees him to work the main event, but also gives Miz and the IC title credibility moving forward.
Strowman would also play an impactful role in making the match important, having spent the majority of the past two years in RAW's main event picture. A victory at WrestleMania would mark his first championship with the company since signing in December 2014.
