After "serious chance" he wouldn't survive surgery, updates emerge on Ric Flair's health

More details emerge on the condition of Ric Flair.

WWE legend Ric Flair has been in ailing health in recent days, as Flair entered an Atlanta hospital this weekend and has been in critical condition since.

Flair underwent surgery on Monday, which was originally reported as a colon surgery to repair a blockage. However, Flair's fiancee — Wendy Barlow — disputed that it was a colon surgery, stating that it was a different procedure.

It now looks like we have some clarification, as Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is now reporting that it was a bowel procedure, and that there was a serious chance going into the surgery that Flair was not going to survive. However, Flair has been reportedly resting since the procedure, although he remains in critical condition.

Meltzer also mentioned that Flair is on kidney dialysis, as kidney issues are part of what has hampered Flair's condition in the past week.

Flair's daughter, Charlotte, flew to Atlanta from a WWE public relations event in China after her father entered the hospital. She has been off WWE television since, and no news has emerged on if she will appear at Sunday's SummerSlam show.

Flair is one of the most prolific champions in the history of pro wrestling, having won a multitude of titles across the NWA, WCW, WWE, and more in his nearly 40-year career. Flair is a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, having been inducted as both individually and as a member of the Four Horsemen.
