Former LSU gymnast and social media star Livvy Dunne appears in the newly released teaser alongside model Brooks Nader, with both wearing the franchise's signature red lifeguard uniforms as filming shifts into high gear ahead of the show's January premiere.

The brief teaser also gives fans a glimpse of actor Stephen Amell sprinting across the beach with a rescue buoy, a nod to one of the original series' most recognizable scenes.

Dunne's role marks her acting debut after becoming one of the biggest names in college athletics during her gymnastics career at LSU. She joins a cast that also includes Shay Mitchell, Noah Beck, Hassie Harrison and Nader.

The reboot will also feature a pair of familiar faces from the original series. Erika Eleniak and David Chokachi are both set to return when the show premieres next year.

While anticipation continues to build, reports have suggested there has been friendly competition behind the scenes between Dunne and Nader as both emerge as prominent new faces of the franchise.

Baywatch became one of television's biggest global hits during the 1990s, helping launch the careers of stars such as Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff. The new series hopes to introduce the iconic beach drama to a new generation of viewers while paying tribute to its original cast.

The reboot is scheduled to premiere in January.
