Linebacker Powell Gordon won't have to travel far to play his college football. In fact, the Alabama native and three-star prospect at Auburn High School will only move across town.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Gordon grew up a fan of the Auburn Tigers. And in 2022, the outside linebacker will get to suit up for his hometown SEC team under head coach Bryan Harsin.

Powell Gordon has not received dozens of offers like other players in the 2022 recruiting class, but he still had some solid suitors to choose from. Air Force, Army, Duke, Miami, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy, Tulane, UAB, Vanderbilt, and Western Kentucky all reached out to the OLB.
Auburn football recruiting tends to be ranked in the middle of the pack among SEC teams, but there are already some solid contributors in the group they've put together for 2022.
Gordon has joined forces with quarterback Holden Geriner and cornerback Jarrell Stinson.
The defensive standout has a great relationship with linebackers coach Jeff Schmedding, and it looks like this is a solidified commitment.
Gordon could change his mind, of course, but he appears to be dead-set on joining the Tigers.
OLB Powell Gordon Highlights
Powell Gordon is an authoritative tackler with the speed to follow the action every step of the way.
In 2020, he played inside linebacker and defensive end at Auburn High School. He'll likely remain on the outside at the NCAA level.
Thanks to his 82 total tackles and 11 sacks, he was named First-Team All-State in Alabama. He could get even better as a senior. Adding weight and experience at the varsity level will help him.

Powell Gordon still has a long way to go before thinking about his professional endeavors, but he has secured his immediate future with his commitment to the Auburn Tigers.
If he can prove himself in college, the NFL Draft may become a realistic outcome for him in a few years.
