Before you fill out your NCAA Tournament bracket, there are a few things you should know: The Duke Blue Devils are the favorites to win the national championship, upsets will happen, and there are some crazy good bucket-getters who will have the ultimate green light during March Madness.
While the world is fixated on star freshman Zion Williamson, it's time to start paying attention to some of the best scorers in the country. You will definitely enjoy the show some of these players can put on.
Although Chris Clemons led the nation in scoring this season at 30 points per game, his Campbell team did not make it to the Big Dance. So here is a look at the five best scorers in the country who will be playing in the NCAA Tournament.
5. Myles Powell (Seton Hall Pirates)
2018-19 Statistics: 22.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists
NCAA Tournament: No. 10 Seed (South Region) vs. No. 7 Wofford
At 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, the junior guard from Trenton, New Jersey isn't the biggest guy on the court ever, but he's absolutely fearless. Powell has a great first step with the ball in his hands, and he will dice up really any defense thrown at him. Although he's not a lethal shooter from 3-point range, his 36 percent is certainly more than respectable, and he should have someone covering him at all times.
4. RJ Barrett (Duke Blue Devils)

2018-19 Statistics: 22.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists
NCAA Tournament: No. 1 Seed (East Region) vs. No. 16 North Carolina Central/North Dakota State
Everyone loves Zion Williamson. It's impossible not to. However, the best player on this loaded Duke team is another freshman in RJ Barrett. After all, the 6-foot-7 lefty was the No. 1 player coming out of high school for good reason. Barrett is as competitive as they come and he is the real deal when it comes to scoring the basketball at all three levels. He's never afraid to take a big shot — or any shot, for that matter — so it's important to always keep your eye on him when he's on the floor. He's a massive reason why Duke is so good this season.
3. Carsen Edwards (Purdue Boilermakers)

2018-19 Statistics: 23 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists
NCAA Tournament: No. 3 (South Region) vs. No. 14 Old Dominion
A preseason All-American, everyone knew this 6-foot scoring guard could fill it up with the best in the country, and he certainly did not disappoint this season. Purdue was successful in the Big Ten this season because of Edwards. He is that good and will be out to light up some scoreboards this postseason.
2. Ja Morant (Murray State Racers)
2018-19 Statistics: 24.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 10.0 assists
NCAA Tournament: No. 12 Seed (East Region) vs. No. 5 Marquette
By now, you should know the name Ja Morant. The sophomore star has had some monster dunks, enormous stat lines, and is arguably the top point guard prospect for this summer's NBA Draft. Sure, he did a lot of this against the Ohio Valley Conference, but his game stacks up with the best guards in the country. Ironically, his Racers have to play the only other player ahead of him on the scoring list this season.
1. Markus Howard (Marquette Golden Eagles)
2018-19 Statistics: 25.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists
NCAA Tournament: No. 5 Seed (South Region) vs. No. 12 Murray State
When you play against Marquette, you know exactly what you are going to get. That, of course, is a heavy dose of Markus Howard. The 5-foot-11 guard can absolutely torch the nets, and it's terrifying for opponents. In a Big East Tournament loss to Seton Hall, he only made one shot from the field but still managed to get 21 points. That's the kind of player he is. Howard is always in attack mode, shoots over 40 percent from 3-point range, and can heat up in a hurry.
