Nine UGA players have entered the NCAA Transfer Portal since the end of the 2020-21 season. Tom Crean's squad has lost 83.4 percent of its scoring, 72.5 percent of its rebounding, and 72.1 percent of its 3-pointers made.

The latest to change schools is point guard K.D. Johnson, whose next destination is within the SEC.

Johnson was a four-star recruit out of Hargrave Military Academy High School in Chatham, Virginia. He was the 97th-ranked player and 20th-ranked point guard in the 2020 college basketball recruiting class, according to 247Sports.

Before signing with the Bulldogs, he had offers from Auburn, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, and Seton Hall.

Johnson played just 16 games in Athens after missing the first 10 due to NCAA academic eligibility issues. He averaged 13.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.8 steals in 22.5 minutes per game last season.

The PG entered the Transfer Portal on May 11. He announced he was transferring to the Auburn Tigers on May 19.

You can expect speed, a nice outside shot, and strength around the rim from the former Georgia Bulldogs guard. He loves playing through contact in the paint and drawing fouls.

On the perimeter, he likes sizing up defenders before launching a jumper. His shot has a fluid release and a high arc. He utilizes a hard jab step to create space.

Johnson joins big man Walker Kessler, point guard Wendell Green Jr., point guard Zep Jasper, and shooting guard Desi Sills as transfers added in the 2021 recruiting cycle.

Johnson, Green, and Jasper will have the opportunity to compete for minutes in the backcourt following the departure of starter Sharife Cooper to the 2021 NBA Draft.

Auburn basketball head coach Bruce Pearl has reloaded his roster after a 13-14 season last year. The influx of transfers plus the addition of five-star recruit Jabari Smith have the Tigers eyeing a return to the Final Four.
