Paige Shiver, the executive assistant connected to Moore's firing and subsequent arrest, comes from a family deeply rooted in the sports world. Shiver, 32, is the daughter of longtime Chicago Bears scout Jeff Shiver, who has worked in NFL talent evaluation for more than three decades.
Her ties to athletics don't end there. Shiver's uncle, Emerson Kampen III, played basketball at Butler and is currently an assistant coach with the school's men's program.
Shiver became part of the Michigan athletic department during the 2022-23 academic year, working initially as an administrative specialist, according to public records. She received a significant salary increase beginning with the 2024-25 fiscal year, with her annual pay rising from $58,025 to $90,000. She was promoted to executive assistant to the head football coach in mid-November.
Her name surfaced publicly this week following Moore's firing for what the university described as an "inappropriate relationship with a staff member." Moore was later arrested in connection with an alleged incident at an apartment complex in Pittsfield Township, Mich.
Court proceedings and police statements have not publicly identified the staffer involved, and it remains unclear whether Shiver was the individual who contacted authorities.
Records show the apartment connected to the police investigation was rented by Shiver, with monthly rent listed at approximately $1,800. Audio from a 911 call released earlier this week included a female caller stating that Moore had been stalking her for months and was armed with a knife. Moore later fled the scene and was arrested nearby, police said.
Shiver, a West Lafayette, Ind., native and Purdue graduate, was previously profiled by the Bears organization in 2016 for her efforts to raise awareness of Pompe disease, a rare neuromuscular condition with which she was diagnosed during college.
Shiver had been active on social media around Michigan football before making her accounts private as the situation unfolded. Publicly available screenshots show Moore had interacted with her posts dating back several years.
The investigation remains ongoing, and Moore is scheduled to appear in court. Michigan officials have declined further comment beyond confirming his termination with cause.
