New Tennessee AD Phil Fulmer has reportedly already spoken to one familiar coaching candidate

This would be a huge hire for Tennessee if it happens.

Tennessee has a new athletic director in former coach Phil Fulmer and it appears that he has reached out to a potential coaching candidate already. Not only is he a championship-winning coach, but one that is quite familiar with the SEC. 247Sports is reporting that Fulmer has made contact with former LSU coach Les Miles.

It had been reported earlier that Miles would be interested in the job too should it be offered to him. The 63-year old spent this last season as a television analyst after he was let go by LSU in 2016. He did lead the team to a BCS National Championship in 2007 and another SEC title in 2011.

Miles has been successful wherever he's gone as a head coach with a 141-55 overall record and a 28-21 record at Oklahoma State where he improved that team for Mike Gundy to take over after him. He also only missed a single bowl game in his entire head coaching career where he actually finished out the season. He went 8-6 in those games with wins in the Sugar, Peach and Cotton Bowl.
