Aliyah Andrews' Leaping Catch Grew Her LSU Legacy

Aliyah Andrews is a special, special talent.

How many other college softball players can lay down a perfect bunt, race around the bases on an inside-the-park home run and make spectacular diving catches all in the same series?

Andrews has earned nicknames like "Air Aliyah," "Air Andrews" and "Her Airness" for the simple fact that when she dives for a ball she almost always comes up with it.

No stage is too big for Aliyah, either. She proved that in LSU's 7-3 win over South Carolina in the SEC Tournament on Wednesday.

Whenever the LSU superstar center fielder takes the field, she's undoubtedly the most athletic player around.

Time and time again, she proves that.

The Tigers led the Gamecocks 5-3 in the sixth inning with one out when South Carolina's Cayla Drotar stepped to the plate. Drotar sent a blast to deep center that looked like it had a chance to go out and if anything result in extras bases.

Andrews had other plans.

The speedster shuffled back and leapt into the air to make a fantastic catch near the wall of Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The terrific grab surely made LSU fans at home go wild and likely silenced South Carolina players and fans. It also made softball fans on social media erupt.

Andrews' catch prevented a potential rally and was pivotal in holding LSU's lead. She also added two hits and a run to help her team. The Tigers went on to play (and lose to) Missouri.

Only time will tell if LSU makes it to Oklahoma City for the Women's College World Series, but let's hope it does so we can watch Aliyah Andrews make more plays like this on softball's grandest stage.

Who knows what "Air Aliyah" is going to do next?
