Although his sophomore year statistics were not tremendously impressive, coaches have continued to rave about his potential.
Maalik Murphy Recruiting
Quarterback Maalik Murphy is a popular recruit. Alabama, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida State, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Oregon State, Texas, UCLA, and USC have all made offers thus far. Arkansas is interested but has not made an offer to the pro-style quarterback.
Of course, the Texas Longhorns have to be considered in the mix as well. Head coach Tom Herman is known to get recruits from The Golden State and the team just lost five-star QB Quinn Ewers. Could Murphy land there?
QB Maalik Murphy Highlights
Murphy’s arm strength jumps out at you immediately. When wide receivers break free from coverage, he is able to hit them down the field. He can already throw a ball over 70 yards.
If he can make a name for himself in college, there is no reason to believe that the NFL Draft won’t be his next destination.
The COVID-19 pandemic has limited his exposure this fall, so scouts are relying on projection more than anything, but he has the tools to take his game to the next level.
QB recruiting is a tricky process as their skills may not necessarily translate from practices to games. A high football IQ, however, should be enough for Maalik Murphy to make the most out of his impressive physical tools.
