Tommy Lasorda Beating the Snot Out of Phillie Phanatic Never Gets Old

The late, great former Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda had a memorable career in Major League Baseball.

The two-time World Series champ was the Dodgers' skipper for 21 years after working his way up through the minor leagues. He earned his rightful place in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

While Lasorda is a decorated manager, what he's likely best remembered for was his rivalry with the Philadelphia Phillies.

More specifically, the Phillies' mascot, the Phillie Phanatic, who was played by Dave Raymond.

Back in 1988, the Phillies were hosting the Dodgers during an MLB regular season series.

The Phanatic, tasked with entertaining the masses at Veterans Stadium, decided to troll Lasorda in a variety of ways. He approached the Dodgers dugout holding a mannequin of Lasorda, one with a very pronounced gut, and proceeded to flaunt it to the Los Angeles dugout.

While Phillies fans were loving the exchange, Lasorda, a Norristown native, was not. After a short while, Lasorda blew a gasket and ran out of the dugout to confront the mascot, removing the Phanatic's getaway ATV before ripping the mannequin away and bashing the mascot with it.

Eventually, the Phanatic recovered the mannequin and proceeded to drive his ATV around the ballpark while taunting Lasorda further, much to the enjoyment of Phils fans.

This is far from the only time the Italian skipper got into it with an opposing mascot.

During a game against the Montreal Expos, Lasorda got the Expos' mascot, Youppi, ejected from the game by the umpires after growing tired of his antics.

Additionally, Lasorda damn near killed the San Diego Chicken, the mascot of the San Diego Padres, after it stepped on a Dodgers hat during a game.
