As Cole Beasley continues to recover from an ankle injury that slowed him down at the end of the NFL season, he is suddenly faced with his own offseason dilemma. Does he stay with the Dallas Cowboys or try to find a new team as an unrestricted free agent?
As of right now, this is what we know: Jerry Jones is still the owner, Jason Garrett is somehow the coach, Dak Prescott is the quarterback, Ezekiel Elliott is the running back, and Amari Cooper is the top option at wide receiver. The only thing that's changed is Scott Linehan has been fired as the team's offensive coordinator.
With all of those pieces in place, it's hard to find a definitive role for the 5-foot-8 Beasley, a former undrafted free agent from Houston, Texas. He had a strong season with 65 receptions for 672 yards and three touchdowns, but it might not be enough to keep him around AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas next season and beyond.

Beasley, who will turn 30 this spring, can go anywhere he wants to. He's a pretty nice target to have, too, especially in the slot. All he wants, apparently, is more opportunities to make plays, which he hints doesn't happen often under the current Cowboys leadership.
If this is true, Dallas might have more problems on their hands than Beasley's social media posts. Why would any free agent want to play for the Cowboys if the front office has their hands in on who gets the ball constantly? Shouldn't that be Garrett's job to find the right plays and not who anyone else wants to see get the ball?
"Honestly, the front office pushes who they want to get the ball to," he wrote. "I'm not a huge priority in that regard. Maybe that will change but I'm not sure. More balls come my way in 2 minute drill where nothing is planned."
The counterargument is this: Beasley is coming off a season where he had his second most targets (87), receptions (65), yards (672), and fifth-most touchdowns in his seven NFL seasons. He caught just one pass for 15 yards in the NFC Divisional Round loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
So Beasley, a nearby SMU alum, had the ball come more his way this last season, and he also serves as the team's punt returner, but his latest Tweets make it seem like his future in Dallas is up in the air, especially with the addition of Cooper to the wide receiving corps.
All Beasley wants is more passes thrown his direction in 2019. It will be interesting to see if the Cowboys honor his wishes or just let him walk away in free agency.
