While having brunch at Willa Jean with his wife and 2-year-old son after church on Sunday afternoon, the sound of a car falling from the fourth floor of a CBD parking garage led defensive end Mitchell Loewen to the rescue.

A young man was trapped inside.

"There were a bunch of people standing around, but not approaching the car and I was like 'What's up, let's help this guy,'" the 25-year-old Loewen told The Times-Picayune.  "I mean, obviously there was someone in there, I wasn't going to stand by and watch. It was a life or death situation."

So with the help of a few bystanders, the 6-foot-5, 275-pound defensive lineman helped flip the silver Mercedes-Benz SUV to save the man inside.

"There was no way I could have dragged him out of that, so I called for people to come help and about 10 of us flipped the car onto its side," Loewen said.

After another bystander crawled into the car and opened the back-passenger door. Loewen then ripped the door off its hinges.

The New Orleans Police paramedics arrived, the man was pulled out, and the short rescue, which lasted only a matter of minutes, was a success.

"It was crazy," Loewen added. "It was a life changing experience."

The way Loewen talks about it is just amazing.

Yes, a true hero.

Loewen, who is from Lahaina, Hawaii, played his college football at Arkansas and was undrafted free agent in 2016. He was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list as a rookie and then suffered an ankle injury early in the 2017 season.

Let's all hope Loewen gets a chance to shine on the gridiron this season after training camp, and there is no doubt the Saints defensive end has picked up tons fo fans after this courageous act.
