Tyrion Davis-Price is someone the Florida Gators never want to see again. The LSU running back ran wild for a school-record 287 yards and three touchdowns in the Tigers' 49-42 upset win, nearly doubling his rushing total on the year.
The Gators haven't seen anyone run like that since Georgia tailback Herschel Walker trucked his way to 238 yards on the ground in 1980. Davis-Price is in legendary company.
Performances of this caliber are starting to become a trend for the LSU back. He carved up Kentucky for 147 yards and two scores the previous week. It's about time, too.
Davis-Price has been cutting his teeth in his three-year college football career in Baton Rouge, playing behind the likes of Kansas City Chiefs star Clyde Edwards-Helaire as a freshman and splitting backfield duties with John Emery Jr. last year.
There's something different this year, though.
Davis-Price is playing for his daughter.

Davis-Price is a hometown kid who played at Southern University Lab School in Baton Rouge. The four-star high school recruit had offers from Florida State, Louisville, Penn State, Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Michigan, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, SMU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UAB and USC before deciding to stick to his roots and play for the LSU Tigers.
Defenses all over Louisiana knew who Davis-Price was throughout his high school career. He rushed for 1,556 yards and 31 touchdowns as a senior while being named a finalist for the 2019 Warrick Dunn Award, which is given to the top high school player in the Baton Rouge area.

Davis-Price has been poised to breakout since he arrived on campus. He rushed for 295 yards as a freshman and 446 yards in the pandemic-riddled season last year. He's taken full advantage of being the bellcow back this year.
Davis-Price's performance against Florida is more impressive as you look closer. He averaged eight yards (!) on 36 (!) carries and gave Max Johnson and the offense plenty of room to air the ball out.
As if to make him more beloved among Tiger nation, he quickly deflected individual praise and guided it towards the offensive line:
"I was just amazed at how good the offensive line was," Davis-Price said. "You could see those were big holes that I ran through."
The LSU running back also attributed his success to LSU director of performance innovation Jack Marucci.
"[Marucci] went up to the coaches, showing them a few of our formations and showing them what runs would be best for certain people and creating better blocking schemes for the offensive line and it worked. As you can see, it worked."

Davis-Price's rushing-record performance was rewarded with SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors. You can count on Davis-Price giving his best for the o-line, offensive coordinator Jake Peetz, his teammates and head coach Ed Orgeron.
However, he was playing his hardest for his daughter.

TDP and his girlfriend Tiara Lang welcomed their daughter Brooklyn Davis-Price in July 2021. Brooklyn is already something of a social media star herself with an 88-person following on Instagram. Tyrion and Tiara run the account.

The LSU football player lovingly posts about his daughter on social media and clearly enjoys being a dad. He wore Brook's name on his eye black during his career game against Florida. A reporter asked about it during the post-game press conference.

Ed Orgeron will be gone after this season but a new NCAA star is emerging before our very eyes. Ole Miss, South Carolina, Missouri and the rest of the SEC are hoping they'll have better luck than Florida. I wouldn't count on it if his daughter's name is a part of his game-day look.
