LSU Softball Star's Soaring "Superwoman" Catch Goes Viral

It isn't a bird. It isn't a plane. That's LSU softball star center fielder Aliyah Andrews who seems to be constantly soaring through the sky making Superwoman-esque catches for the Tigers.

The senior outfielder known for her hitting ability and incredible speed covers more ground than a planned road trip across the United States. Nothing gets by her, which is why Andrews has become known as "Air Aliyah" and "Air Andrews" when making defensive web gems behind her pitchers.

Andrews, the sister of former LSU softball All-American outfielder A.J. Andrews, made a play against Oklahoma State this season worthy of recognition from ESPN's SportsCenter.

LSU may have dropped a double-header to the Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Friday, February 26, but one moment outshined everything else in LSU's 3-1 loss.

In the top of the seventh inning, a Cowgirl roped a ball into the gap for what looked like a no-doubt double or possibly triple.

Andrews had other plans.

The senior from Oldsmar, Florida, went airborne to make a spectacular diving catch and rob the hitter of extra bases. Afterward, she gets up like that catch was just another day at the office.

"A Superman catch by the Superwoman in center field!" the announcer said.

The incredible nab landed Andrews the No. 8 play on ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 that night.

At this point, Air Aliyah or Air Andrews needs to be trademarked. The next day against Louisiana-Lafayette, she robbed another poor hitter. Earlier this month, Andrews made a nearly identical diving catch against Kansas in LSU's 5-3 win. She just can't stop.

At this rate, Aliyah Andrews might never allow a hit in front of her again.
