4-Star Defensive End Taking Talents to Texas A&M Next Season

Tunmise Adeleye has been an attractive name in the 2021 recruiting class since he started playing at Tompkins High School in Katy, Texas. The strong-side defensive end was all set to play for Ohio State, but over the summer, he decommitted from the Buckeyes, bringing him back to the recruiting trail and making him eligible to sign with any college football team.

Adeleye was a game-changer on defense for the Tompkins Falcons. In his sophomore year, he was involved in 53 total tackles and had eight sacks. He followed that performance up with similarly impressive numbers as a junior, but the sack total diminished to just three.

He attended the famous IMG Academy for his spring semester last year, but he did not return for his senior season. The COVID-19 pandemic had other plans, and Adeleye opted out of the football season, meaning that it will be well over a year before he gets back into game action.

Many other teams are interested in four-star defensive end Tunmise Adeleye. Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Houston, Illinois, Indiana, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M, are just some of the inquiring schools.

Head coach Ryan Day will miss Adeleye but the Buckeyes already committed to bringing five-star defensive linemen Jack Sawyer and (most likely) J.T. Tuimoloau to Columbus next year, so the damage won't be astronomical.

Even though not all of the signings worked out, Buckeyes' defensive line coach Larry Johnson is great at his job.

Adeleye may not take the rest of the Big Ten by storm anymore as Alabama, Florida, and Texas A&M were the top options for him. Any of those schools could have been a launching pad for his eventual NFL career..

DE Tunmise Adeleye Highlights

Adeleye is a powerful force on the defensive line, even though he is sitting at 250 pounds.

He can break through and get past offensive tackles with ease at the high school level, but work will have to be done to keep that momentum up in the NCAA. 247Sports pegs him as a four-star prospect, suggesting that whichever team can claim him will be rewarded.

UPDATE (December 2020): Jimbo Fisher beat out Florida and Alabama to reel in a big-time four-star defender. Adeleye committed and signed with Texas A&M during the early signing period.

Adeleye ranks as the No. 37 prospect nationally, per 247Sports, and is the sixth-best prospect in the state of Texas. Judging from his social media accounts, he's excited to play in front of 100,000 at Kyle Field.
