Aggies Land Talented 4-Star Guard from Texas

College basketball might have had a horrible week, canceling the NCAA Tournament due to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns, but it wasn't all bad for Texas A&M Aggies hoops fans and head coach Buzz Williams. In fact, they actually got some great news on the recruiting trial.

Manny Obaseki, a four-star guard from Allen, Texas, announced his commitment on Twitter. The 2021 recruit took a visit to College Station last weekend and made it official before the end of his junior year of high school.

Rated as Top-30 prospect nationally, it's safe to say the Aggies got a good one.

Manny Obaseki could have waited. With his game, the 6-foot-2 combo guard could have stacked up a long list of high-profile offers on the summer circuit. However, he was ready to commit to the coaching staff and prepare to take his talents to Texas A&M.

Obaseki chose the Aggies after fielding offers from Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, Illinois, Oklahoma State, SMU, and TCU, among others.

"First, I wanna thank God for blessing me with the ability to play the game I love. I give all the glory to him and I will continue to glorify his name. I also want to thank my beautiful family. My mother, my father, my brother, Elijah Obaseki, and my godbrothers, Kyle and Korey Jones. I love you guys and appreciate all you guys do for me.

"I want to thank all of my supporters and friends that have had my back along the way, I really appreciate you guys. I also want to thank all of the coaches that spent time recruiting me. It's absolutely a blessing for you guys' time and investment in me.

"Lastly, I want to give a special thanks to the person that started it all, my Godfather, Kevin Jones. Thank you for loving me, bringing me in, teaching me, helping me, and always being there for me. More importantly, thank you for changing my life. I love you.

"With that being said, I'm blessed to announce that I am committing to Texas A&M University!! #GigEm"

If you are inside the same gym, it doesn't take long to notice guard Manny Obaseki. He's not the biggest guy in the world, and his shot is improving, but he's an explosive guard with long arms and competes on both ends of the floor.

The scary thing is Obaseki is just getting started and his game will be even better by the time he gets to campus.
