The Rock's Net Worth: Meet Hollywood's Highest-Paid Actor

In professional wrestling, there are certain names that have the charisma that transcends the industry. Continuing the wrestling lineage of the legendary Maivia family, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson decided to follow the footsteps of his father Rocky Johnson and grandfather "High Chief" Peter Maivia by entering the scene as a professional wrestler in 1995.

This, of course, was after his time as a football player on the gridiron. He never reached the NFL but did play in the Canadian Football League with the Calgary Stampeders after a successful college football career, which included a national championship with the University of Miami in 1992. It did not take long after his debut for The Rock to gain the interest of Vince McMahon and WWE, as he debuted just a year later in 1996, embracing his Samoan and black culture by donning the name Rocky Maivia.

The rest is history. The wrestler-turned-actor was born in Hayward, California, and grew up in New Zealand, Hawaii, Tennessee and Pennsylvania. He has become a box office and blockbuster sensation that has worked with actors like Kevin Hart, Mark Wahlberg and Vin Diesel and piled up the cash ever since. So what is Dwayne Johnson's net worth? It's time to find out.

From 1996 to 2004, The Rock cemented himself as being one of the most popular wrestlers of all time during WWF's Attitude Era. Also, during this time, filmmakers began to draw interest in the former 10-time World Champion and five-time tag team champion.

The Rock returned to WWE in 2011 as the guest host of WrestleMania 27, followed by main event matches with John Cena at both WrestleMania 28 and 29. He won the WWE Championship for the first time since 2002 from CM Punk at the 2013 Royal Rumble matchwhich led to his match at WrestleMania 29 against John Cena for the title.

Acting Career

Dwayne Johnson's breakout role was in 2001 when played The Scorpion King in the movie The Mummy Returns. The following year, The Scorpion King was released, and The Rock played the same character again.

These opportunities led to more roles, which resulted in a seven-year hiatus from WWE for endeavors such as the role of Maui in Disney's Moana, along with roles in Fast & Furious, Furious 7, The Rundown, San Andreas, Tooth Fairy, Central Intelligence (with Kevin Hart), The Game Plan, Skyscraper, Rampage and more, as well as appearances as a guest host on Saturday Night Live. Johnson also hosts and is executive producer of NBC's The Titan Games while filming upcoming movies like Red Notice and Jungle Cruise.

Today, The Rock is a social media and movie star worldwide.

Endorsements & Business Ventures

In addition to his professional wrestling and film career, The Rock also has endorsement deals with companies such as Apple, Ford and Under Armour, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Dwayne Johnson also has his own production company along with ex-wife Dany Garcia, Seven Bucks Productions, and has released films such as Baywatch, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Jumanji: The Next Level, and Shazam!, as well as HBO's Ballers.

Seven Bucks Productions was also the contributing company behind the Fighting with my Family movie, which documented the pro wrestling journey of Paige and her family. Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw was released in summer 2019, which also featured current WWE star Roman Reigns.

In August 2020, The Rock returned to his football roots (well, sort of). Johnson and an investor group bought the XFL following its collapse due to the coronavirus pandemic and COVID-19 outbreak. The XFL's new plan is to restart in 2022.

"The acquisition of the XFL with my talented partners, Dany Garcia and Gerry Cardinale, is an investment for me that's rooted deeply in two things — my passion for the game and my desire to always take care of the fans," Johnson, who played college football in Florida for the University of Miami, told ESPN. "With pride and gratitude for all that I've built with my own two hands, I plan to apply these callouses to the XFL and look forward to creating something special for the players, fans and everyone involved for the love of football."

Dwayne Johnson Net Worth

In August 2019, Johnson married his longtime girlfriend, singer Lauren Hashian, in Hawaii. The couple share two children together, Jasmine and Tiana.

The Rock has been one of the highest paid actors in the nation over the past few years, and just last year became the highest paid actor in United States history, according to Forbes.

Dwayne Douglas Johnson has experienced quite the success story transitioning from a pro wrestling career to Hollywood and Netflix regular, and the 48-year-old is still going strong in the film industry. Today, The Rock's net worth is estimated around $320 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
