Jrue Holiday‘s Wife is an Olympic Gold Medalist & Brain Tumor Survivor

Milwaukee Bucks point guard Jrue Holiday comes from an athletic family.

He's an NBA All-Star, and his brothers Justin and Aaron Holiday play for the Indiana Pacers. His younger sister Lauren played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. You would think with those kind of genes that it would be hard to find a significant other who was just as, if not more, athletic.

Jrue Holdiay did in his wife Lauren Holiday.

Jrue met his wife Lauren Cheney at a UCLA women's basketball game during his lone college season. He was a star on the UCLA Bruins basketball team, she was a star on the women's soccer team.

The point guard and midfielder started dating shortly after Jrue was the selected 17th overall in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. They tied the knot in 2013.

In the meantime, Lauren, an Indianapolis, Indiana native, was succeeding on the world soccer stage. She won gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 2012 London Olympics, and at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada as a member of the United States women's national soccer team (USWNT). Domestically, the soccer star played for the Pali Blues of the W-League, the Boston Breakers of the Women's Professional Soccer, and FC Kansas City of the National Women's Soccer League.

The two-time Olympic gold-medalist retired in 2015 to focus on building a family with Jrue.

The Holiday family was hit with devastating news when a brain tumor was discovered on the right side of her brain during her pregnancy with the couple's first child in 2016. The New Orleans Pelicans guard, who was entering his fourth season in the Big Easy after being traded in the 2013 offseason, missed the first 12 games of the season to be with his wife.

Thankfully, the tumor was successfully removed after Lauren gave birth to their daughter Jrue Tyler Holiday. The couple welcome their second child, a son named Hendricks, in late 2020.

Off of their respective playing fields, the Holidays run the Jrue and Lauren Holiday Social Impact Fund. The fund provides financial assistance and business guidance to underserved black-owned businesses and nonprofit organizations. The nonprofit primarily focuses on the communities of Milwaukee, New Orleans, Indianapolis, and Los Angeles

Jrue was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks last year. He's been a vital part of helping Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and the Wisconsin franchise reach its first NBA Finals since 1974. First, they swept the Miami Heat in the first round of the NBA playoffs. Then, they defeated the juggernaut Brooklyn Nets in the second round before taking out the red-hot Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Now, the NBA player is tasked with guarding Phoenix Suns star point guard Chris Paul for all the marbles.

The Holidays may be known as athletes first, but family always takes priority.
