Bill Belichick’s New Subway Commercial Really Brings Out His Personality

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick isn't exactly known for his sparkling personality. Sure, he likes to have some fun from time to time, but the man is, and always has been, about winning football games. That might never change, but at least he's interested in branching out a little bit for a good cause.

This offseason has been a whirlwind for the Patriots. Tom Brady left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and former MVP Cam Newton signed with the franchise. If that's not enough, the coronavirus pandemic and COVID-19 outbreak has certainly added a different look and feel to training camp and the upcoming NFL season.

Belichick has always stuck to the script. It's a big reason why he's won so many Super Bowls. He did it again this summer and created a brilliant commercial for the Subway sandwich chain.

Thanks to Subway Restaurants, we now have this classic Bill Belichick commercial to watch over and over again. The 30-second ad gets better with every fullscreen view, too. Everything about it is perfect and really brings out his personality.

The trending commercial was filmed in Branford, Connecticut and is part of a partnership between Subway and the Bill Belichick Foundation to help student-athletes and programs in need, according to Boston.com.

"I haven't ever done anything like that," Belichick said. "It was a fun commercial to do. And everybody loves sandwiches, so hopefully, they will be OK with it. I know I'm going to get killed in the rookie shows on this. I know that's going to happen, but I'll just have to swallow it."

You better believe the Pats players have been chomping at the bit to talk about, too.

"I can't wait till we get back in this building and we can all talk about this five-dollar footlong Subway commercial set that we all saw Bill on," defensive back Devin McCourty said on his Double Coverage podcast. "He had on his same coaches sneakers from the facility. I am very excited to see it. I am going to go out on a limb and say Jules [Julian Edelman] probably brings it up first."

There's no doubt Patriots practice is pretty lively thanks to this gem.

It's unclear whether or not Belichick will be featured in more commercials, but a press release indicates that football fans should be ready to see a lot of Subway ads this fall.
