With the No. 17 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys selected Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. For fans of America's Team, it was a first-round pick worth celebrating. For everyone else, the moment turned into a viral video that likely won't go away for a very long time, if ever.
After owner Jerry Jones made the popular draft pick on Thursday night, ESPN cameras showed the future NFL star sitting four-deep on a couch and talking on his cell phone. Everyone was being respectfully quiet, too, but then something happened.
Lamb's second phone rang. It was reportedly his agent calling. So girlfriend Crymson Rose tried to do the nice thing and grabbed the phone from his other hand, perhaps looking to answer it for him. But once Lamb quickly grabbed the phone back, social media went to work.
CeeDee Lamb's Viral Phone Moment
It's never safe to judge any situation without knowing the facts, but this didn't look good at first. CeeDee Lamb was on an important phone call after the biggest moment of his life, and his girlfriend looked like she was trying to take his other phone away from him. The way he grabbed it back made it look even worse, too.
Twitter, as expected, went buck wild. In reality, it probably got more buzz than Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa combined. Tweets were fired from all different directions within minutes, and it hasn't really slowed down since. Lamb even tried to put it to rest, but it only poked the fire even more.
"Y'all really gotta chill wasn't even like that dat," Lamb wrote, adding a thumbs down emoji.
So what actually happened? Crymson Rose, an Oklahoma student herself, tried to explain it as well.
"His agent was FACETIMING him while he was on the phone with the Cowboys, I was doing the GF thing gonna answer it for him. Sheesh," she wrote.
Much like her now-millionaire boyfriend, her efforts didn't work too well, either.
The viral moment looked bad, especially the way CeeDee Lamb snatched his phone back, but at least the two were on the same page after the fact.
Who is CeeDee Lamb's Girlfriend?
Her name is Crymson Rose, and according to her Twitter bio, she is expected to graduate from the University of Oklahoma in 2021. Rightly or wrongly, her popularity is through the roof at the moment, both for the phone incident and her dating history.
Rose also used to date former Oklahoma basketball star Trae Young, who now plays for the NBA's Atlanta Hawks, in high school. And in hilarious fashion, he also commented on the incident.
So just when you thought Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was the only one having a bad night, go scroll through the comments on her social media, including her Instagram account, which now has over 30,000 followers.
If people didn't know Crymson Rose before the coronavirus pandemic and COVID-19 outbreak, they absolutely do now thanks to the NFL Draft.
