Since he entered the league — well, actually since his days at Florida State — Jameis Winston has been touted for his leadership abilities. He’s been labeled as a quarterback who can not only sling the ball around the field, but one who can inspire his teammates on both sides of the ball.
And everyone knows the pre-game speech can have a huge impact on the energy a team has to start a game.
Do you see where I’m going with this? Part of Winston’s job, as the quarterback, is to instill that energy, to bring out the hunger in his team. Although, it appears the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback took that part of the job description a little too seriously on Sunday.
This has to be one of the weirdest pre-game speeches ever given in the history of the NFL.
Considering the fact the Buccaneers lost to the New Orleans Saints, 30-10, it’s probably safe to say Tampa Bay went home hungry.
Also, if you’re going to march into The Big Easy and try to deliver a hype speech in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, you better bring your A game.
You know, the Saints have a guy capable of providing some extra special pre-game speeches, too.
