Randy Moss' 'Moon' Celebration Made Joe Buck Lose His Mind

Similar to their AFC North brethren, there is no love lost in the NFC North. And come playoff time, if the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions or Chicago Bears face one another, the animosity will be dialed up to an 11.

On Jan. 9, 2005, the Packers and Vikings met in the NFC Wild Card round at Lambeau Field. Tensions were high as it was, but Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss cut through it with a knife with an iconic touchdown celebration.

The Vikings were up 24-17 with the ball with just over 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Minnesota quarterback Daunte Culpepper dropped back from under center, rolled to his right and found a streaking Moss downfield. Moss hauled it in for a touchdown with a defender draped over him.

The Lambeau crowd was stunned, but Moss nearly started a riot with his celebration. The legendary wideout went over to the goalposts, dropped the football, then mooned the Green Bay fans. Some say you can still hear the jeers to this day.

But even the thunderous boos couldn't beat Joe Buck's reaction.

"That is a DISGUSTING act by Randy Moss," Buck said. "And it's unfortunate that we had that on our air live. That is disgusting by Randy Moss."

(I capitalized the first disgusting to try to give it the "umph" Buck enunciates it with.)

So good. You would think Moss just murdered somebody with how Buck reacted. If he had any integrity, he would've resigned on the spot with how DISGUSTING Moss' celebration was. There were kids watching, Joe!

The Vikings ended up winning 31-17, and Moss somehow escaped alive. He didn't escape without a dent in his wallet, though. The NFL fined him $10,000 for the DISGUSTING act.

You can get away with things like this when you're as talented as Randy Moss. And, come on, it's funny! Well, to everyone but Packers fans. Still, if Moss hadn't mooned the lovely people of Green Bay, we wouldn't have gotten one of the all-time sports quotes from Buck.
