$7 Billion in Super Bowl Bets? Here are 37 of the Wildest Wagers

The NFL wouldn't be the NFL without gambling. These days you can bet on just about anything when two teams take the gridiron, like throwing down money on whether Buffalo Bills fans will toss sex toys on the field in the regular season.

Super Bowl Sunday, of course, is the biggest day for sports betting in America. Billions of dollars are wagered each year during the big game to conclude the playoffs, and obsessive fans like this man who faked his own kidnapping to avoid paying a massive Super Bowl bet are why that number is so high.

This year's matchup between the AFC's Kansas City Chiefs and NFC's San Francisco 49ers is shaping up to be the largest wagering volume ever. The American Gaming Association reported 26 million Americans will wager a record $7 billion on Sunday's NFL Championship game. That's three million more U.S. bettors partaking than last year's Patriots-Rams clash.

The best way to watch the game is by throwing down money on Super Bowl prop bets. These proposition bets range from calling the coin toss to how long the national anthem will last to even the number of commercials that feature a dog. Yes, oddsmakers have a weird job.

The NFL wants to get rid of prop betting for the big game, but they're here to stay. At least for now. Miami's Super Bowl LIV will feature a host of odd prop bets, including what color microphone Demi Lovato will sing into during the national anthem and whether Shakira and Jennifer Lopez will sing in Spanish during the halftime show.
