In two varsity seasons, Tua threw for 57 touchdowns and added another 11 scores on the ground. St. Louis won the state championship in his senior year, and it was clear the QB had multiple NCAA suitors.

Ultimately, Tagovailoa chose the Alabama Crimson Tide over schools like LSU and Oregon, and his upward momentum only continued from there.

Tua Tagovailoa played as a true freshman in a few regular-season games in 2017, but his big break came against Georgia in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

After starter Jalen Hurts struggled, head coach, Nick Saban opted to use his backup after halftime, and it worked to perfection. Tua threw the game-winning touchdown pass, won the offensive MVP, and the Crimson Tide dynasty continued.

Tua was taken by the Miami Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft. There may be a different Florida team in the Super Bowl this year, but the Dolphins made strides with Tagovailoa under center. He may not have been as good as Joe Burrow or Justin Herbert, but patience could pay off for the left-hander.
